| Comparison What matters | Your option Online with Mitchell | For context Typical in-person tuition |
|---|---|---|
| Who teaches |
Taught live by Mitchell, a qualified full-time Maths teacher with almost 10 years’ experience.
|
Experience, qualifications and Maths specialism vary from tutor to tutor.
|
| Student interaction |
Students speak, answer questions, ask for help and show their working throughout the live lesson.
|
Face-to-face interaction is available, although participation still depends on the tutor’s approach.
|
| Group fit |
Groups are capped at six and students learn alongside peers from the same year group at a suitable level.
|
Private tutors are often one-to-one; tuition-centre group sizes and ability matching vary.
|
| Clarity on screen |
A shared screen and digital whiteboard make each stage of a solution clear and easy to follow.
|
Solutions are usually shown on paper or a physical whiteboard in the room.
|
| Time and travel |
Join from home with no commute, collection, waiting around or disruption from local travel.
|
Travel to a tutor or tuition centre—or arranging a home visit—is normally required.
|
| Parent reassurance |
The student learns at home, so a parent or guardian can remain nearby if that helps them feel comfortable.
|
Parents may need to travel, wait nearby or leave the student at another venue.
|
| Know the tutor first |
Families can watch more than 520 Maths lessons on Mitchell’s YouTube channel before ever booking.
|
There is often limited opportunity to see a tutor teach before the first paid lesson.
|
| Commitment |
Pay as you go, with no contract, no bulk payment and a free first lesson.
|
Terms vary; some tutors and centres ask families to book or pay for blocks in advance.
|
| What is required |
A laptop or tablet, a stable internet connection and somewhere reasonably quiet to work.
|
No internet is needed, but the student must be able to reach the lesson location on time.
|
A good tutor matters more than the room.
Online tuition works when the teaching is live, the group is small and the student is actively involved. The free first lesson lets your family judge the experience for itself before paying anything.

Hi Sir!! I just wanted to say thank you for all of your help and for all of the support you have given me over the past two years. I am still in shock and can't believe I got my grade 7, even after all of the bumps in the road with the exam timings and hard questions. I also wanted to thank you for not just your help in maths but other subjects too.

FAQs
-
No. With me it is pay as you go. No contracts and no bulk payments. You can pay before or after each class. Parents like this because they have been burned before by tutors charging hundreds upfront and then disappearing.
-
Many students come to me saying other tutors made them feel small. My approach is different. I explain until it clicks, no rushing and no pressure.
One of my students put it best: “Other tutors made me feel stupid. With Mitchell I felt at ease from the first lesson.”
-
That is fine. I keep groups small (max 6 students) and offer flexible, pay as you go booking. If you miss a week, you are not charged for something you did not attend.
-
Yes. With every student I’ve worked with, I’ve seen an improvement of grades.
But do not just take my word for it. Here’s some students words.
Gabriela (Year 11) said: “Before Mitchell I kept failing my topic tests. After one lesson, I jumped from a 4 to a 7.”
Nicole (Year 13) added: “Mitchell gave me exam strategies that made the difference. I achieved the grades I needed for architecture.”
-
3 things parents and students mention most:
Patience and clarity – I explain concepts step by step until they stick.
Flexibility – No bulk fees or rigid contracts.
Proven results – Students consistently improve topic test scores and walk into exams more confident.
-
I get it. Many parents and students have told me the same thing.
That’s why I offer a free 1 to 1 trial lesson. You can experience my teaching before paying a penny.
I also share free maths videos on YouTube (thousands of students watch them every month), so you can see my teaching style in action.
-
Yes. The group sessions are designed to cover common challenges and give you the benefit of learning from others’ questions. On top of the group classes, every student also receives a free 30-minute 1-to-1 session once every 5 weeks, where you can focus entirely on your own questions and specific areas you’d like extra help with.
